6th Thing - My Space

6th Thing My Space: Checked out Gosnells on My Space and only found 4 - none of whom I know at all unless they are verrrrry distantly related. My nieces are on My Space and that's where we go to keep in touch and where we saw our great nephew's first picture! I have a half completed My Space page from a CAPCON class last spring but find my friends and I prefer to keep in touch by phone.

8th Thing - Library Thing

8th Thing Library Thing. Created a list of five favorite books for Library Thing. Oddly enough, it's easier for me to list my one favorite book than to select five! And at number one would be Pride and Prejudice, the book I have reread the most, starting in high school.
I also like the idea of creating a list of 'books waiting to be read.' We had a great time at Rockville's branch staff meeting in the lab creating Library Thing accounts and sharing our booktalks on our favorite book! The online store has some great stuff - T-shirts and magnets -What's on your bookshelf?


Questions anyone? why don't all the covers show up - perhaps Amazon doesn't own the rights but you don't find out until afterwards?

4th Thing: You Tube

4th Thing You Tube Viewed some videos on You Tube this week. I'm not really a videoholic so I didn't find the personal videos of particular interest but I can see an application for the instructional ones. I tried looking up storytelling videos and found some done by Monroe Free Library in New York to advertise their library services.

3rd Thing Vodcasts

3rd Thing Vodcasts: Listened to the 7 1/2 habits of lifelong learners. The easiest habit for me is the one of teaching/mentoring. Even though I didn't think I ever wanted to become a teacher, one of the obvious choices for an English major, it does appear that I have an aptitude for teaching or so I have been told by some co-workers. And I do find I enjoy it! The hardest habit? I guess I would have to choose 'Play' out of the list. It really depends on what the subject is though because if it's a subject of interest to me, I can definately learn and play at the same time. Other subjects maybe not!

2nd Thing - Blogging

2nd Thing Blogging: Creating a blog was very convoluted for me but I'm here. Trying it on my own last week was a somewhat dispiriting start as the protocol was not readily apparent to me. This week though with formal instructions and Sherida's help (Thank you Sherida) I'm making my first post. (Remembering all the sets of logins, passwords, etc. is definately essential and worth making a record.) What looks like fun to me is layout with the ability to change colors and insert images taking me back to my Children's Librarian days of Print Shop and program flyers. I did decide not to share a profile but would be happy to discuss favorite movies and books in person with you all. (Ask me about last week's IMAX adventure!)
